Noise Machine is a label, studio and space offering flexible access to nature for artists to discover, create, process, learn, share, explore, and rest in a rugged natural setting. We also release music. All artists signed to Noise Machine get annual access to the space for making music!

Noise Machine is a music studio, a creative residency space, and a music label.

Noise Machine is located on the Tla’Amin Nation lands in qathet, BC.

“Tla’amin Nation is part of the Northern-most Coast Salish ʔayʔajuθəm speaking peoples.  Our people today inherited rich territories and teachings (ta-ow) stretching back well over 10,000 years. Tla’amin economic and political systems along with our spirituality are derived from our relationship with the land.”

We take land stewardship seriously and work to rewild the land. A tree is planted for every artist through the space.

As an artist-run, femme-run, queer-run space Noise Machine has secured support of a chorus of beautiful people who are committed to Noise Machine’s vision of better lives for artists and innovation in the industry.

Noise Machine was started by artist Sophia Sanford and is supported by local, national, and global partnerships. These are the folks who make things happen for artists.

Noise Machine was named by all the folks staying in the space during its development; after being asked “how did you sleep?” many folks answered some version of “so good… it’s like a noise machine in there.”

And so was born Noise Machine.

Lapping water, winter rain, calling birds, and vocal sea life are a constant in the sonic reality at Noise Machine. It is a space that asks you pause for a moment as you witness nature, nose to nose.
